A ferry in Bali capsized after running aground trying to dock in a harbor while carrying 33 vehicles and 65 passengers.
A total of 65 passengers include with crew members were told to leave the ship after it tilted on the side and started to capsize.
The ferry from Lembar, Lombok Island tried to dock at the Padang Bai port in eastern Bali around 10 pm local time on June 12.
Water had reached the ferry’s engine which means there was nothing they could do at the time.
Head of the Padang Bai Class IV Port Authority Ni Luh Putu Eka Suyasmin said, “The ship could not be docked and at 21:45 we evacuated passengers and crew to the dock in a safe condition. The evacuation process was completed at 22:18.”
The ferry was also transporting ten large trucks, three medium trucks, eight Tronton, three small vehicles, and nine motorbikes.
