The year of the rabbit is bringing prosperous luck to the Chinese. Aside from the rabbit decorations seen in shopping malls, other Chinese New Year (CNY) decorations fit the ‘hopping’ theme. For example, the beautiful lanterns and red ang paos bring the festive spirit to life.
CNY is a celebration that glorifies bright colours like red, yellow and gold. These colours bring ‘ong’ and are often chosen as the go-to decoration colours for the festival. However, some decorations might be a bit out of place and don’t quite fit the theme.
So, how would you feel if you spotted a ghost-like mannequin in the middle of the shopping mall?
That’s exactly what happened to Chan Fong!
He was walking into the mall when he saw two mannequins in the middle. One was wearing a red cheongsam, while the other was wearing turquoise. The funny thing is, the poor lighting on one of the mannequins makes it look like a ghost!
Not only that, but the mannequin’s hair also adds a spooky touch to the ghostly look.
When he showed the other mannequin, it looked totally fine. Now we know: lighting plays an important role in this deco!
Everyone shared the same sentiment as Chan. Some were ‘spooked’ when they saw the mannequin while shopping for the upcoming CNY.
Funnily, someone said the mannequin could be used during Halloween! It fits the horror feel, alright!
It looks like our local malls are getting more creative when decorating for a celebration. Now we wonder what will happen for the upcoming Eid!
