Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), conducted its annual program, MTDC’s Road2Growth (R2G) Johor, here today. The event was carried out with the support of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), an investment holding company in charge of catalysing Iskandar Malaysia’s strategic development, and which MTDC has established relationships with. During MTDC’s R2G, Puan Mydiana Madzlan, Head of Ecosystem Building, in representing IIB’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dato’ Idzham Mohd Hashim, as well as IIB’s management team, were in attendance as well.
MTDC’s R2G is a platform to disseminate information and showcase MTDC’s range of services, which includes Commercial and Developmental Funding, Ecosystem Partnerships, Business & Technology Consulting, Training & Talent Development, Business Innovation and MTDC Technology Centres. Registration is complimentary and the event especially welcomes industry players, universities and government as well as private agencies who may need assistance in technology adoption to explore new business and partnership opportunities.
During the event, MTDC’s CEO, Ts. Hj. Mohammad Hazani Hj. Hassan, said that, “Johor’s rising stature as a strong economic state is one of the reasons why MTDC is eager to introduce its technology, innovative solutions in i4.0 and digitalisation to the participants here today. Over the past few years, the growth in Johor has been phenomenal, with large scale development and increased foreign investments making Johor their port of call. We at MTDC highly encourage entrepreneurs, especially those from Johor, to seize this unique opportunity to further expand your business. 4IR has brought major technological advances where it has changed and diversified the way we live, work and interact. This is where MTDC’s R2G program will address the possibilities and potential businesses during its sharing session and networking activities conducted by our team and partners.” In Johor, MTDC has so far invested and funded 65 companies, with a total funding amount of RM110.9 million, and two of these companies have successfully been listed in Bursa Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in today’s R2G program in Johor, participants were able to choose from any of seven (7) tracks, specifically on Commercial Funding, Developmental Funding, Ecosystem Partnerships, Business & Technology Consulting, Training & Talent Development and Business Innovation.
In the Commercial Funding and Developmental Funding tracks, participants engaged with fund experts and advisers, who assisted in identifying opportunities and resources required to bring success to participants’ ventures. Speakers included representatives from Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF), Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad (SME Bank) and MOSTI.
In the Ecosystem Partnerships tracks, participants explored how Industry 4.0 (i4.0) can be used across various industry sectors. MTDC’s ecosystem companies showcased their local innovations and technologies, which could be adapted to execute businesses more efficiently, during the sharing sessions. Participants also learned about MTDC’s Technology Centres, which offer versatile collaborative workspaces catered towards tech companies, suitable for innovation and growth. Speakers included representatives from i4.0 companies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI) consultant Neuramerge Resources PLT, data analytics company Foresight Analytics, geospatial mapping specialist MySpatial Sdn Bhd, and data expert Integrasi Erat Sdn Bhd.
In the Business & Technology Consulting track, participants were able to benefit from business, financial and marketing advisers to improve their businesses. There was also a demonstration and pitching exercise organised by Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd (PUJB). Malayan Banking Berhad was also a guest speaker in this track.
In the Training & Talent Development track, participants learned about Job Strategies and Techniques, as well as Available Careers in i4.0.
In the Business Innovation track, participants learned about programs and assessment tools to assess participants’ innovation readiness and support their commercialisation efforts.
Overall, MTDC’s R2G aims to offer valuable insights and make the right support and resources available to Malaysian technopreneurs to compete on a global level, so that they may contribute significantly to the technological advancements and the economic growth of the country.
With the successful completion of MTDC’s R2G in Johor, the next R2G event will be held in Penang on 23 July 2024; Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 6 August 2024; Kuching, Sarawak on 8 August 2024; and Kuala Lumpur on 9 September 2024.
