In a bold step to improve healthcare access for Malaysia’s gig workers, foodpanda Malaysia has officially launched futureK, a first-of-its-kind outpatient care pilot programme for delivery partners and their families. The initiative is made possible through a partnership with Heydoc Health, a digital health platform.
Built on a digital-first approach, futureK aims to close the healthcare access gap for delivery riders who often lack affordable medical coverage.
What futureK Offers:
- Unlimited teleconsultations via the DOC2US platform with licensed doctors
- E-prescriptions with medicine for minor illnesses available for pickup or delivery
- Extended coverage for family members
- Fully digital experience easy, fast, and seamless
“Our riders are the heartbeat of foodpanda,” said Shubham Saran, Operations Director of foodpanda Malaysia. “With futureK, we’re going beyond just a plan we’re delivering real support through accessible, affordable care.”
The three-month pilot phase will collect data and rider feedback to fine-tune the programme before a nationwide rollout. On top of outpatient services, riders will also gain access to digital health education modules, covering:
- Preventive care
- Chronic illness management
- Mental health and wellness
Smart Tech Meets Real Needs
Powered by Heydoc Health, futureK uses AI, blockchain, and smart medication tools to ensure care remains efficient and affordable. The fixed-fee model helps delivery partners manage healthcare costs with ease and confidence.
“futureK redefines how outpatient care can be delivered in today’s digital world,” said Dr. Raymond Choy, CEO of Heydoc Health. “This collaboration shows what’s possible when tech meets empathy.”
Why It Matters
Malaysia’s gig economy is growing fast, but access to affordable healthcare hasn’t kept up. futureK is designed to change that by offering predictable, simple, and inclusive care options for the people who power the platform.
With this move, foodpanda and Heydoc are setting the standard for how digital innovation can improve real lives especially for freelancers and gig workers across the nation.
