A newly unveiled Socio-economic Impact Report by Asterès reveals how L’Oréal’s presence has fueled Malaysia’s growth. For every single L’Oréal job, 36.6 additional jobs are created across the economy. In total, the company supports 21,609 jobs nationwide through its value chain.
L’Oréal also empowers over 1,600 beneficiaries with training, skills development and endowments, helping Malaysians build careers, supporting small businesses, uplifting underrepresented communities, and contributing to the nation’s prosperity.
Beauty: A Thriving Industry in Malaysia
Valued at RM13.6 billion, Malaysia’s beauty and personal care market reflects the nation’s cultural diversity and growing appetite for self-care. With young, digital-savvy consumers leading the charge, growth is driven by personalized skincare, K-beauty trends, and wellness-focused routines.
Since establishing its Malaysian operations in 1995, L’Oréal has grown into the country’s No. 1 beauty company, reaching 6.7 million consumers with a portfolio of 30 brands. Its extensive presence includes 47,508 retail outlets, 1,300 salons, 2,399 pharmacies, and eight e-commerce platforms, supported by a strategic distribution center in Shah Alam.

Today, L’Oréal Malaysia directly employs 590 people, but its ripple effect extends far beyond. The Impact Report confirms its contribution through jobs, skills, and revenues that strengthen Malaysia’s economic fabric.
