The LALIGA Youth League officially kicks off in Malaysia this week, marking a huge milestone for youth football development in the country.
Organised by Sambill Park, this is the first official youth competition in the world supported by LALIGA, Spain’s top professional football league.
After five years of successful international youth tournaments in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, the LALIGA Youth League now takes things to the next level, turning short tournaments into a long-term, structured league. With over 150 teams taking part, it’s a true pathway from grassroots football to the global stage.
The league will run in two seasons, October to December 2025, and April to June 2026, featuring players aged U6 to U16 across five venues in the Klang Valley: Footballhub Rimbayu, Footballhub Central (Puchong), Footballhub Bandar Seri Coalfield, Footballhub KSL Klang, and Fiezta Arena (Semenyih).
At the official launch at KSL Esplanade Mall, Klang, team captains from every club gathered alongside representatives from LALIGA, Sambill Park and Footballhub to mark the start of an exciting new era.
“We’re delighted to bring the LALIGA Youth League back to Malaysia,” said Adrian Prol, Head of LALIGA in Malaysia. “It’s another step in nurturing young footballers with the same passion and professionalism that define LALIGA.”
Daniel Wong, CEO of Sambill Park, added: “This season will be our biggest yet over 150 teams competing, more talent, more passion, more football. The future is bright.”
The league is divided into two divisions, Primera Division for elite academies (including NFDP and SSN) and Segunda Division for grassroots teams, giving every young player a chance to shine.
Winners of the Primera Division will earn a spot in the LALIGA Youth Tournament 2026, opening doors to international exposure and recognition.
It’s not just about competition it’s about building a culture, shaping values, and inspiring the next generation of Malaysian footballers.
