ORA 5 HEV: Design-Led Hybrid Mobility for Connected Urban Lifestyles

At the centre of the preview is the ORA 5 HEV, a compact urban crossover that forms part of ORA’s future mobility expansion in Malaysia. The ORA 5 HEV is powered by GWM’s all-new intelligent hybrid system, Hi2 technology. The “H” stands for Hybrid, “i” represents Intelligent, while “2” reflects the ability to deliver two key benefits simultaneously, outstanding fuel efficiency and strong performance. Designed to make drivers choose less between economy and excitement, the Hi2 system delivers both low fuel consumption and responsive driving dynamics in one package.

With a maximum output of 223 PS and 476 Nm of torque, the ORA 5 HEV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds while maintaining an impressive fuel consumption figure of only 4.4L/100 km. Combined with a driving range exceeding 1,100 km, the vehicle offers a practical solution for both daily urban commuting and longer intercity journeys. Measuring 4,471 mm in length, 1,833 mm in width and 1,641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm, the ORA 5 HEV delivers a spacious and comfortable cabin while retaining its compact urban-friendly footprint.

Further reinforcing its global credentials, the ORA 5 was awarded the prestigious “Design of the Year” title at the 2025 London Design Awards, becoming the world’s first production vehicle to receive this recognition.

It also earned a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Lowest Fuel Consumption by a Production Hybrid SUV Driving Across Municipalities in China, achieving an exceptional combined fuel consumption of just 3.74L/100 km over a 3,004 km real-world driving challenge.

The ORA 5 HEV reflects the evolution of ORA under ONE GWM, broadening the brand’s mobility portfolio while retaining the design-led, intelligent and technology-forward character that defines ORA.

Signature elements such as the waterdrop headlights, hidden design taillight, and petal-style low-drag wheels reinforce its expressive and lifestyle-led identity, while its broader role signals ORA’s evolution into a connected and future-ready mobility ecosystem under ONE GWM.

Aimed at young professionals, couples, and connected urban users, the ORA 5 HEV is designed for Malaysians looking beyond the traditional compact SUV formula and toward a stylish, intelligent, and lifestyle-oriented mobility experience. It reinforces ORA’s role as a design-led and technology-forward mobility proposition within GWM’s overall portfolio.
