If you’re a fan of matcha, Japanese design and a little Parisian flair, Casio’s latest collaboration with Café Kitsuné might be worth a look.
The two brands have teamed up on the new AQ-230ECK, a retro-inspired analog-digital watch featuring a distinctive matcha green dial inspired by Café Kitsuné’s Japanese-French aesthetic.
The collaboration brings together Casio’s classic watch design with Café Kitsuné’s take on Art de Vivre, the French idea of the “art of living”.
Founded in 2013, Café Kitsuné has grown to more than 32 locations worldwide, including Tokyo and Paris. The brand was also one of the early names to introduce matcha to Paris back in 2014, helping bring Japanese tea culture to a wider audience.
A little fox, a lot of matcha
The AQ-230ECK keeps the familiar square-face design of the popular AQ-230, but gets a Café Kitsuné makeover.
Its matcha green tones give the watch a subtle pop of colour, while the collaboration appears in the finer details.
The iconic Café Kitsuné fox makes an appearance on both the dial and case back, with the Café Kitsuné logo engraved on the case back and clasp.
Even the packaging gets the matcha treatment, with a special colour scheme inspired by the Japanese tea.
Despite its lightweight feel, the watch is built for everyday wear, featuring water resistance, an alarm, stopwatch, hourly time signal, auto calendar and EL backlight.
Essentially, it’s where Tokyo’s minimalist sensibility meets Parisian café culture, wrapped around your wrist in a shade of matcha green.
