PDRM Investigates Alleged Assault Involving AKPS Director-General At KLIA

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has confirmed that it received police reports from two PDRM personnel regarding allegations that they were physically assaulted by the Director-General of the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) in an incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on September 28, 2026.

The investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bukit Aman under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which covers the offence of voluntarily causing hurt to another person. If convicted, the offence carries a penalty of up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

To date, statements have been recorded from 25 witnesses, comprising PDRM officers and personnel, AKPS officers, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) auxiliary police personnel, baggage handling system workers, medical officers and independent witnesses.

PDRM has assured that the investigation is being conducted in a transparent, professional and impartial manner, based on witness statements and evidence obtained to ensure that every aspect of the incident is thoroughly examined.

The investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers on October 6, 2026, for review, advice and further directions, in accordance with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.

In this regard, the public is advised against making any speculation or drawing conclusions that could affect the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings.
