Under Armour Malaysia returns for the fourth edition of its performance challenge, UA NEXT COMBINE, with a refreshed 8-week format focused on individual performance and progress.
Designed for Malaysia’s growing hybrid fitness community, the challenge gives athletes the opportunity to set their own performance benchmarks, train with purpose and track their improvement.
Since 2022, UA COMBINE has brought athletes together to test their limits across different aspects of performance.
This year’s challenge takes it further by giving athletes a starting point to build on, aligned with Under Armour’s ‘COMMIT’ platform, which celebrates growth through unwavering commitment to sport.
The refreshed format encourages self-improvement through fitness tests that help participants improve their physical abilities and work towards new personal bests.
Know Your Starting Point, Commit To Progress
To help athletes find out their baseline fitness level, the UA NEXT COMBINE kicked off with a Benchmark Day, where participating athletes underwent a standardised series of seven performance assessments across the areas of speed, strength, cognition, endurance, agility and vertical performance.
Powered by VALD Performance technology, the performance assessments tested each participants’ fitness levels with personalised scorecards, acting as personal benchmarks to measure their improvement following the eight weeks of training.
The 7 tests include:
- Speed – 20m Sprint Test
- Strength A – Hand Grip Test
- Strength B – Nordic Curl
- Cognition – Reaction Inhibition Test
- Endurance – Beep Test
- Agility – 5-10-5 Test
- Vertical – CMJ & Vertical Jump Test
Participants also tested Under Armour’s Velociti Distance with HOVR+™ superfoam technology for lighter weight and enhanced traction, alongside the UA Reign XT for agility and stability during hybrid workouts.
Training Athletes To Challenge Their Growth
Under Armour will support athletes through five partner gyms: Celebrity Fitness, Grit Nation Subang Jaya, Fitness First, F45 Training and MORPH by Kamileon.
Participants will train at the gyms before returning for the final check-in on 28 November 2026 at JAM PJ to repeat the assessment and measure their progress.
UA NEXT COMBINE is supported by JAM PJ, Gatorade and Hyperice as its official venue, hydration and Recovery Partners respectively.
