Urbanscapes Returns After Seven Years With 16 Days of Art, Music and Food in KL

By ilyalya 2 min read

After a seven-year hiatus, Urbanscapes returns to Kuala Lumpur with 16 days of free experiences celebrating local artists, musicians, makers and creative communities.

Guided by the theme Made Different, this year’s edition gives creatives a platform to share their ideas and work, bringing fresh perspectives to the city’s cultural scene.

Running from 31 October to 15 November 2026, Urbanscapes brings Kuala Lumpur’s creative communities together ahead of its 25th anniversary in 2027.

“For this return, we’re going back to basics by starting with the people and the ideas they want to share, and building the experiences around them,” said Adrian Yap, founder of Urbanscapes.

The programme features two strands: Everyday Inspiration, which brings art into public spaces, and Shared Moments, which connects communities through music, exhibitions, workshops and food.

Art, Music and Creative Communities Across KL

At TRX, Studio Soüfflé’s Udara Fest features large-scale inflatables that invite visitors to experience the district from a different perspective.

The First Weekend Attractions

The opening weekend also features CRE.ATE 2026 by Cult Creative at Sky Society KL, bringing creators and independent businesses together through talks, workshops and a marketplace. Speakers include Shalma Ainaa, Kim May Chee and Dee Alimin.

At Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, Past Forward presents music, workshops and talks alongside the Shell Café Barista Cup. Shell Café will also serve handcrafted coffee and pastries from its mobile truck across three venues, alongside a tumbler collection featuring designs by Malaysian artists Dania Mah and Adnin.

Second Week Curated For Music Lovers

Meanwhile, Long Time No See at APW Bangsar revisits Kuala Lumpur’s late-2000s creative scene through music by Mimosa, a Palate Palette pop-up and Back in Service food collaborations.

For a look into the city’s nightlife history, Night Shift, curated by Roshan Menon and Callen Tham, explores Kuala Lumpur’s club culture between 1997 and 2003 through archival materials, photographs and interviews.

The Closing Weekend

The closing weekend brings Sunny Days to TRX, spotlighting emerging talent across music, fashion, food, design and street culture, with Off The Track curating the Sunny Stage.

Spritzer Story Sessions will also spotlight the people behind the programme through a documentary-style content series, while its Hydration House at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad and TRX will welcome visitors.

As Urbanscapes begins its journey towards its 25th anniversary in 2027, the festival invites visitors to reconnect with Kuala Lumpur’s creative community and discover the people shaping its cultural landscape.
