Coca-Cola Malaysia and AFES Bring ‘Recycle Me!’ 2026 to Eight PPR Communities

By ilyalya 2 min read

Coca-Cola Malaysia and Alam Flora Environmental Solutions Sdn Bhd (AFES), with the support of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), have launched ‘Recycle Me!’ 2026.

This community-focused initiative brings recycling education, infrastructure, and collection activities to eight People’s Housing Programme (PPR) communities in Kuala Lumpur.

Residents of PPR Batu Muda bringing their recyclable items to the ‘Recycle Me!’ 2026 on-site collection drive, jointly organised by Coca-Cola Malaysia and AFES, supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

The programme aims to make participation in recycling more accessible for residents by bringing collection opportunities closer to their communities and encouraging greater participation in the recovery of eligible PET bottles and aluminium cans for recycling.

The Need for Action

According to a 2021 article published by the Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), approximately 82.5% of waste generated in Malaysia was disposed of in landfills. This waste often includes recyclable materials such as PET bottles and aluminium cans, emphasizing the need for improved recycling systems and behaviours.

Team members from Alam Flora Environmental Solutions (AFES) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) work hand-in-hand with Coca-Cola Malaysia to facilitate collection drives and establish accessible recycling touchpoints across eight PPR communities in Kuala Lumpur.

Through Recycle Me! 2026, Coca-Cola Malaysia and its collaborators aim to provide residents with convenient opportunities to participate in recycling activities and support the collection of eligible PET bottles and aluminium cans for recycling.

Evolving and Expanding Recycling Efforts

Launched in 2023, ‘Recycle Me!’ initially focused on PET collection through retail collection points at AEON outlets across Klang Valley. In 2026, Coca-Cola Malaysia is expanding the scope.

Running from October 2026 to April 2027, the programme will now include aluminium cans alongside PET bottles. By focusing on eight PPR communities, the initiative seeks to overcome accessibility challenges and foster community-driven recycling habits.

Leaders Speak on Sustainability

YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), joins representatives from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Coca-Cola Malaysia, and Alam Flora Environmental Solutions (AFES) at the ‘Recycle Me!’ 2026 initiative, setting in motion the Hari Cuci Malaysia programme to promote cleaner, greener neighbourhoods.

“As Coca-Cola Malaysia celebrates 90 years in the country, we remain focused on initiatives that create positive change in the communities we serve. Through Recycle Me! 2026, we hope to make participation in recycling more accessible for residents by bringing collection opportunities closer to where they live.”

“Together with our collaborators, we aim to encourage greater participation in the collection of PET bottles and aluminium cans for recycling,” said Selena Tan, Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability (PACS) Director, Coca-Cola Malaysia.

Impact and Scale

‘Recycle Me!’ 2026 supports the collection of eligible PET bottles and aluminium cans from participating communities, helping channel these materials back into the recycling value chain.

Residents of PPR Batu Muda take part in fun, interactive activities led by Coca-Cola Malaysia that encourage the community to adopt everyday recycling habits.

Residents will have access to monthly collection activities and recycling education programmes. To encourage active participation, the programme includes rewards and a celebration for the top-performing community. This initiative seeks to provide learnings that can support a scalable model for community recycling across the country.
