Bullying has no place in schools, and more than 51,000 Malaysian students are learning that staying silent isn’t the answer!
In a nationwide effort to create safer and more supportive school environments, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn. Bhd., in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), has successfully concluded its “Berani Tegur, Berani Bertindak” Anti-Bullying Campaign 2026.
Running from April to October 2026, the initiative reached more than 51,000 students and 4,000 teachers across 40 primary and secondary schools, encouraging young Malaysians to speak up, stand against bullying and take action when witnessing harmful behaviour.
The campaign officially wrapped up with a closing and prize-giving ceremony at SMK Puchong Permai on 23 October 2026.
The ceremony was officiated by Tuan Haji Azman Bin Mahsuri, Deputy Director of the School Planning and Management Sector 2, Daily School Management Division, MOE.
Turning Awareness Into Action
What does it take to make schools safer for everyone?
For Gardenia and MOE, the answer begins with empowering students to recognise bullying, speak out and understand the importance of standing up for one another.
Through the campaign’s School Roadshow, the Gardenia team travelled across Malaysia’s Central, Northern, Southern and East Coast zones, bringing anti-bullying awareness directly into classrooms and school communities.
Students participated in awareness talks and interactive activities designed to promote positive values and social responsibility.
Schools were also equipped with anti-bullying posters and infographics to reinforce the message beyond the roadshow sessions.
As part of the initiative, Gardenia distributed more than 12,000 Gardenia products to participating students.
But the campaign didn’t stop at awareness talks. It also gave students an opportunity to express their understanding of bullying through creativity.
Students Turn Powerful Messages Into Creative Videos
One of the campaign’s highlights was the Creative Video Competition, which challenged primary and secondary school students to produce short videos inspired by the theme “Berani Tegur, Berani Bertindak”.
The competition encouraged participants to use storytelling and visual creativity to communicate meaningful anti-bullying messages.
Entries were evaluated based on creativity, message effectiveness, audience impact and overall production quality.

In the Primary School category, SK Lanchang, Pahang, emerged as champion, winning RM2,000.
Meanwhile, SJK(C) Kuang Hwa secured second place with RM1,500, followed by SK Bukit Wan in third place with RM1,000.
SK Balok Makmur and SK Kemahang received RM500 each for fourth and fifth places, respectively, while SK (LKTP) Bukit Sagu won the Most Creative Video award, taking home RM500.
For the Secondary School category, SMK Tinggi Kajang claimed the top spot and RM2,000 in prize money.
SMK Puchong Permai finished second with RM1,500, while SMK Tengku Panglima Perang Tengku Muhammad secured third place with RM1,000.
SMK Kemayan and SMK Bukit Rangit finished fourth and fifth, respectively, each receiving RM500.
SMK Puchong Permai also took home the Most Creative Video award, worth RM500.
Anti-Bullying Messages Go Beyond School Grounds
Recognising the influence of social media among young Malaysians, the campaign also introduced a Social Media Awareness Contest to encourage students and school communities to spread positive messages online.
Participants were encouraged to share anti-bullying content using the official hashtags #BeraniTegurBeraniBertindak and #GardeniaAntiBuli.
The initiative demonstrated how social media can be used as a platform for awareness and positive change.
SMK King George V, Seremban, emerged as the winner after recording an impressive 144,089 total interactions, earning the school a RM4,000 cash prize.
The closing ceremony recognised participating schools from Selangor, while a separate prize-giving ceremony will be held in Pahang.

Building a Generation That Dares to Speak Up
Beyond competitions and prizes, the “Berani Tegur, Berani Bertindak” campaign carries a message that extends far beyond the classroom.
By encouraging students to recognise bullying, speak up and take responsible action, Gardenia and MOE hope to nurture a school culture built on courage, empathy and mutual respect.
The initiative also reflects both organisations’ commitment to developing positive values, strong character and social responsibility among young Malaysians.
With more than 51,000 students reached nationwide, the campaign marks a meaningful effort towards making schools safer, more welcoming and more supportive for everyone.
Because standing up against bullying starts with one simple decision: choosing not to stay silent.
