81 Individuals Safely Repatriated From Italy

SEPANG, March 26  — Seventy-six Malaysians and five non-Malaysians were safety repatriated from Italy through another Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission organised by the government to bring home Malaysians abroad following the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), the special AirAsia flight carrying them arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 10.06 am.

Also on board were five Ministry of Health (MOH) staff, one from the Foreign Ministry, 20 AirAsia crew members and one Nadma officer.

All the 81 people were required to undergo health screenings at the Air Disaster Unit at the KLIA before being transferred to the Monitoring Centre at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) in Nilai for a 14-day quarantine.

The decontamination operation was mounted by 263 members of various agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department, MOH, Nadma, Air Asia Engineering, Airport Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Malaysia Police and KLIA Aviation Security.
