COVID-19: Thailand Reports 11 New Cases, Bringing Total To 70

BANGKOK, March 12 — Thailand today confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s tally to 70.

Thai Public Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr. Sukhum Kanchanapimai said all of the new cases had shared drinks and cigarettes on two occasions.

Tha authority has identified a tourist from Hong Kong as the source of the new cluster, he told a news conference here today.

He said the tourist had traveled alone to Bangkok on Feb 21 and was down with fever and cough four days later.

“Before flying home, the tourist had met with a group of friends, 15 of them, on two occasions on Feb 27 and 29,” he said.
