Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the government would provide food assistance to university students who did not return home during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“These students are not only from public institutions but also from private, as well as students in community colleges, teacher education institutes, and even matriculation programs.”

“It involves 74,530 students and the total cost incurred by the government for 11 days is RM12,297,450.”

“So it means that all students living in college do not return to the village whether they are private or public and others are fully incurred by the government,” he said in a press conference today.

Responding to a journalist’s questions, he informed that it was up to the university administration to determine how it would be distributed.
