PWoB Expected To Be Complete In 2023

IPOH, March 5 (Bernama) – Construction of the Perak World of Badminton (PWoB) complex over 1.14ha in Meru Raya is expected to begin next year and be done in 2023.

Perak Badminton Association (PBA) president, Datuk Samsudin Hashim, said it will cost RM12 million and will include 10 international-standard courts, seating for 1,000 people, a hotel, hostel, café, gym and sports equipment store.

“We are currently awaiting complex design approval, among other things, and once that is done, construction will begin and we hope it goes smoothly,” he said at a press conference yesterday after a deal was inked between PBA and Hertz Enterprise Sdn Bhd with sponsors and strategic partners for the development of the sport.

“This complex will also serve as an administration centre for the various clubs and associations under PBA. It will enable us to plan activities for the development of badminton,” he said.

Samsudin added a business model will be developed for PWoB to generate income for PBA, especially.
