1. Octopush (England)
Discovered in 1954, Octopush’s purpose was actually for helping members of the British diving club stay active in the winter. Also called as underwater hockey, the way to Octopush is similar to playing hocker on solid ground, it just has few differences. The puck is way heavier than usual which purpose to stay on the floor and not floating around also cause of the weighs, it can slide smoothly on the pool’s floor. Finally, as Octopush takes place underwater, players can generally do little more than dive down and pass the puck to a teammate before coming up for air.
2. Chess Boxing (Germany)
Chess Boxing has been in the game since 1992 and is a real sport requiring both brain and brawn. The sport has gone global since 1992, with countries including England, Germany, Netherlands, France, Russia, and Japan all embracing the new sport. Competitors have to be skilled in both boxing and chess to compete at the highest level. Next, the object of the chess boxing is to either beat your opponent in alternate rounds of chess or boxing.
3. Hobbyhorsing (Finland)
Hobbyhorsing is similar to riding a real horse, instead of a horse, hobby horsing is just a horse’s head on a stick. This sport made its debut on the world stage in 2017 with the release of the documentary “Hobbyhorse Revolution.” In it, participants (mostly young girls) ride what Finns call “stick horses” through a circuit of jumps and obstacles similar to what you would see in an actual equestrian competition.
4. Shin Kicking (England)
Who knows kicking your opponent on the shin can be a sport? Go back to the 17th century and that is the time where it all started. The game is simple, two competitors attack the other’s shins until one cries, “Sufficient!”. Letting someone kicking your leg must be pretty hurt, after years, this game has been reducing the level so people can put or wrap their shin to make it soft for both, yet the objective is still the same.
5. Fireball Soccer (Indonesia)
Imagine playing soccer like average kids, instead of a ball, it is a coconut that is on fire! Originally from Indonesia, Fireball Soccer is a way to welcome Ramadhan by the kids in Indonesia. Even the coconut is on fire, the original way is to play or kick it with your barefoot. It is such a beautiful game to watch, but dangerous to play.
