After 30 long years, Liverpool finally wins the Premier League title after Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea. The team was crowned as the league champion on Thursday.
While Manchester City was defeated, Liverpool gains a victory by defeating Crystal Palace 4-0 on Wednesday. With the win, Jurgen Klopp’s team just needs two points from the remaining seven games to win the title.
But, after City’s loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with just 63 points, Liverpool has led far ahead at the top of the league with 86 points. Thus, making them the champions, ending the 30 years waiting.
Last time ‘The Reds’ won the Premier League title was in 1990. With the recent win, Liverpool has now won the top title 19 times. It is second behind Manchester United who won it 20 times.
“I have no words. It’s unbelievable,” said Klopp to Sky Sports.
“It’s much more than I ever thought, to become champions with this outstanding club is unbelievable,” he added.
It is believed that a huge celebration happens in Liverpool’s city. Said Klopp, the feels of being a champion with Liverpool cannot be described.
“It’s the best thing I could ever imagine and it’s more than I ever dreamed of,” he said.
