Beware, Your Passwords Can Be Hacked Just From The Sound of Typing

Did you know that hackers will try their best to get our password even it means to just have listened to the sound from our keyboard?

This fact has been found based on a study by Southen Methodist University in the United State of America.

Research has been made regarding the reactions of people typing on their phone or laptop keyboard. The result is a sound eave will be created as we type on the keyboard. With the sound waves, the hacker can translate it to the right key that we hit on the keyboard and gives the exact letters or numbers.

This method isn’t just to identify the passwords, it also can be used to know our texts or personal information that we shared only to certain people.

“We were able to pick up what people are typing at a 41 percent word accuracy rate. And we can extend that out – above 41 percent – if we look at, say, the top 10 words of what we think it might be.” said study co-author Professor Eric Larson.

Some apps want to access the microphone that builds on our phone. That can be one of the ways for hackers to listen and record the sounds of our keyboard. From the records, then they gain access to our information and can use it freely.

The good news is, this method is quite hard because the sound waves created from the keyboard are different for each one.
