Couple Poisoned Dogs And Cats, Attempt To Sold It As A Meat

A couple has been caught in Vietnam after both of them have poisoned many pet dogs and cats with cyanide. The couple then will steal those pets to be slaughtered for meat.

Nguyen Van Phuong, 43, and his girlfriend, Hoang Thi Phuong, 35 were arrested on Sunday after they were seen by the residents collecting the animal carcasses in plastic bags across the main street of the Nhu Xuan District of Thanh Hoa Province. They are now being investigated on the charge of ‘property theft’ by the police of Nhu Xuan District.

As stated by police, the couple admitted that they have poisoned and steals 500 kilos of dogs and cats between June 11 and 14 across Nhu Xuan, Nong Cong, and Nhu Thanh Districts.

Police also have found 3 kilos of dried fish and 100 grams of cyanide at the couple’s home in Van Thang Commune of Nong Cong District, Thanh Hoa.

They also rented a house that was disguised as a dog meat restaurant. It was believed to be used as a storage facility for stolen meat.

Not just that, they also have employed staff to slaughter the animals, freeze the meat and ship it to restaurants, mainly in Hanoi.

According to the officials, investigations were still ongoing and are set to expand. For now, in Vietnam, there are no laws regarding killing, selling or eating cats and dogs.
