A man in Indonesia has taken care of a female crocodile and assume her as his own children. The Indonesian man was Pak Ambo and this unusual moment was happening at Guntung River, Bontang, East Kalimantan.

According to Pak Ambo, the four meters crocodile was named Riska and he has been taking care of her for 23 years. Almost every day, Riska will come to Ambo’s house.

“If she does not come in two or three days, I will go find her (Riska). I considered her as my own child,” said Pak Ambo.

The first time Pak Ambo discovered Riska was 23 years ago. At that time, her length was only one meter. At that time, Ambo doesn’t really care about the crocodile. He kept paddling his boat back home.

However, the crocodile was seen to keep following Ambo’s boat. At one point, Ambo even saw the crocodile staying quietly next to his boat in front of the house.

He named the crocodile Riska, the same name as his boat. “My boat is called Riska. Sometimes I play around in the Guntung River and she came to me. I got on the boat, I paddled, she (crocodile) came alongside my boat,” said Ambo.

Pak Ambo once left Riska for 2 years after he got a job at Samarinda. When both of them were separate, Ambo often gets reports from his wife who sees the crocodile pacing around their house.

“Sometimes, if I’m not there, Riska will be given food by the locals,” added Pak Ambo. Ambo always reminded the locals who wanted to feed them to treat the crocodile nicely.

Two years of working in Samarinda, Ambo then decided to return to Bontang to take care of the crocodile. Since taking care of the crocodile 23 years ago, Ambo has never been attacked or injured.

Now, many locals visit Ambo’s house to see the four-meter-long crocodile. Ambo advised the people who came to always bring food for Riska.
