Musa Hassan Is New USIM member of Board Of Directors

SEREMBAN, June 3 — Tan Sri Musa Hassan has been appointed as a new Member of the Board of Directors of the University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) for a three-year term, effective May 15.

USIM’s Strategic Communications Centre (StraComm), in a statement today, said the appointment of the former Inspector-General of Police had been approved by Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad.

“He served as the Eighth Inspector-General of Police from Nov 12, 2006 to Sept 12, 2010, having been appointed to the USIM Board of Directors in accordance with Section 17 (1) (f) of the USIM Constitution (Knowledgable and Experienced Representative),” the statement said here.

The statement also mentioned that the university’s management was pleased with the appointment of Musa and believed his experience would contribute significantly to bringing USIM towards greater academic and organisational achievement.

“This is especially so in making the 2022 USIM Mission to become a High Impact Glocal Islamic science university into a success. Simultaneously, it also fulfills the government’s aspiration to make Malaysia a centre of excellence in regional and international education, ”it said.

Musa, a senior lecturer at the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Centre of Media and Information Warfare Studies (CMIWS), has held various positions in the police force including Assistant Director of Prosecution/Legal, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Bukit Aman (1995) , Deputy Director 1 of CID Bukit Aman (2001), Chief of Police Johor (2003), Director of CID Bukit Aman (2004); and Deputy Chief of Police (2005).

He has also served as Deputy Chairman, Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation, Patron, Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) and Chairman, Malaysian Community Crime Care (MCCC).
