Weddings, Social Events Now Allowed With Up to 250 People At A Time – Ismail Sabri

The government has agreed to authorize and organize social events, beginning July 1, by the Senior Minister (Security Kluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Allowed social gatherings include feasts, weddings and engagement, religious-related occasions such as tahlil, aqiqah and doa selamat.

“In addition, it also includes social celebrations such as wedding anniversary, birthdays, reunions and so on,” he said on todays press conference.

However, the event is still subject to the standard operating procedure (SOP), which is only three to five hours.

The attendance capacity must not more than 250 people at a time, subject to the size of the event space to ensure that the social distancing was followed. Also, buffet serving is not allowed.

“Visitors also cannot eat the food there, and the best is by the dishes,” he added.

At the same time, among the SOP that put be followed was a health screening counter at the entrance.

“That is a must, it is a basic condition and the temperature of each guest should be checked. We do not allow those with symptoms to be present,” he said.

According to Ismail, the organizer must also register guests using the MySejahtera app or manually recorded.

Also, the guest’s entry and exit points also need to be separated to avoid congestion.

However, if there is a problem in the event and the organizers find it difficult to control the situation (such as social distancing), they are advised and encouraged not to continue the event.

This is because the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is still monitoring the SOP compliance throughout the RMCO.
