A Singaporean married couple was sentenced to 27 years jail each after they were found guilty for abusing their 5 years old son who eventually died.

Back in April this year, the couple had acquitted of murder by common intention. But, the common intention had not been sufficiently proved.

The son who’s named cannot be revealed due to the gag order was returned to the couple in 2015. Shortly after his birth in 2011, he was fostered out to a close friend of Azlin. Azlin claims that she was unable to taking care of him at that time.

In 2016, it is believed that he became the subject of the couple abuse. The boy eventually died on October 23, 2016.

Many methods were used by the parents to abuse their son such as pinching him with pliers, splashing him with hot water, and even punching his face. They also confining him in a pet cage.

It is revealed in court that the husband’s intellectual functions were measured to be in the lower 16th percentile. He also admits that he always hit his wife over small disagreements.

As for the wife, she had the experience of getting abuse by her parents when she was a kid. Her father was a drug addict while her mother does not love her.

She then lived with her grandmother and eventually grew very close to her. But in March 2016, her grandmother passed away several months before her son died.
