COVID-19 : 248 New Cases In Singapore, Tally Exceeds 47,000-Mark

SINGAPORE, July 16  — Singapore has recorded another 248 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24-hour with 11 cases in the community, thus bringing the total tally to 47,126.

According to brief noon data released by the Ministry of Health (MOH), of the community cases, two were Singaporeans or permanent residents, seven work pass holders and two dependant’s pass holders.

In addition, the ministry said there were four imported cases involving those placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

The vast majority still being the migrant workers residing at dormitories, it said.

In its full data released late yesterday, Singapore classified 623 of its cases as imported, 2,084 as community cases and 44,171 as dorm residents.

In all, 42,988 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

As of 12 noon yesterday, there were 159 confirmed cases who are still in hospital with most are stable or improving, and none was in the intensive care unit.

The statement said 3,704 patients who had symptoms or were clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and are being cared for at community facilities.

Thus far, 27 people had died from complications due to COVID-19 infection here.

No new cluster was identified Wednesday.
