Cutting Board Might Be The Main Reason Why We Always Had Stomach Pain

Have you ever seen the condition and appearance of your food cutting board at home or a restaurant? If not cleaned and maintained properly, cutting boards can hold harmful bacteria and spread food poisoning.

For your information, 1 cm square of the cutting board contains over 24 thousand bacteria.

According to Public Health Malaysia, cutting boards that are scratched, stains, and moldy are one of the causes of food poisoning, which in turn leads to diarrhea and stomach pain.

To know more, below are the full explanation by Public Health Malaysia about the cutting board that they posted on Facebook:

Take a look at your cutting boards at your home and restaurants. Is it been scratched, stains, and has been moldy? In fact, it is one of the reason of food poisoning that causes you to have diarrhea and stomach pain.

Studies show that 1 cm square of the cutting board contains over 24 thousand bacteria. This is 200 times more than the germs in the toilet seat!

Although the condition of the cutting board has been poor and looks disgusting, do not know, Why a lot of people are still using it! Cracks and scratches on the cutting board are “holes” for germs such as Salmonella, E-coli, and so on.

In addition, sharing the use of cutting boards for raw materials (chicken, fish, meat) and vegetables/fruits should also be avoided.

For example, after you cut the chicken, germs on the raw chicken will stick to the cutting board, then with the same board, you cut the vegetables and fruits.

Suggestions

1. Replace the cutting board if there are scratches and moldy

2. Use different cutting boards for raw materials and vegetables/fruits
