Stapler Bullet In Food Packaging, Causes A Little Girl’s Gums To Swell And Have Pus

In Malaysia, a seller usually staples the wrap for food because it is easy to do. Unfortunately, that is not something that we can take it easy.

Stapler bullet is a tiny piece of metal that looks like it would not likely do any damage to us. But, what if the stapler bullet can inflict harm on small children?

Public Health Malaysia has shared a post on Facebook about a case where no parents want that to happen to their children.

According to the post, a little girl was referred to a dentist for pain and swollen gums. After an examination, the doctor has found that there was swelling that had pus in the little girl’s gums.

An x-ray scan shows a dark image that indicates the presence of foreign matter in the pus. The swelling is pricked and pus water is removed. Apparently, there is a stapler bullet pierced in the gaps of the teeth up to the root of the patient’s teeth.

To avoid the problem, Public Health Malaysia provides a few ways to prevent it from happening. Those are:

  • Avoid buying food that wrapped with staplers and the seller itself should find another alternative way that is way safer than using staplers.
  • Stapler bullets are considered ‘food hazard’ and not suitable to be used in food packaging. Take care of your children and make sure to check the food before eat it.
