50 Years Old Crocodile Named ‘The Demon’ Was Captured And Beheaded By Villagers

A large crocodile was captured and beheaded in Indonesia. It is said that the 50 years old reptile was hunted by the villagers of Bangka Belitung Islands, Indonesia because they feared it was an evil spirit.

The crocodile named ‘The Demon’ died from exhaustion after getting trapped in nets laced with razor-sharp blades. The villagers then decide to buried the head and body separately as they believed it can stops ‘the demon’ animal returning to ‘haunt’ them.

Head of the local conservation center, Septian Garo said that before the burial, officials have negotiated with the villagers to let them handle the reptile. But, the villagers insisted they want to keep the animal for religious reasons.

“There was a belief that the crocodile should not be removed from the village because it is a demon,” said Septian Garo.

Because of its large size, the dead crocodile had to be carried with a bulldozer from the river to a field where it will be buried.

“The body and head must be buried separately because this is a demon crocodile. Before cutting it off, there is also a special ritual,” said village official, Junaidi.
