Foodpanda surely eases our life by providing us its best food delivery services. We can order our food anywhere, anytime and the Foodpanda riders will directly send your food to you.
With the technology that keeps on developing, food delivery service is also taking up to another level by using drones to deliver food.
Yes, Foodpanda is using drones to deliver its food in Singapore.
Foodpanda in partnership with DroNet managed to deliver five packets of Ayam Penyet from the Marina South Pier to a ship that was located 3km offshore last week. Foodpanda had signed an agreement with Singapore Technologies (ST) Engineering in March to use the company’s drone network system. Until now, they are testing to deliver light food items over short distances.
The collaboration is being called as PandaFly, aimed to see drones picking up and sending foods to and from designated collection points islandwide. Foodpanda riders will complete the last mile of the delivery to the customers’ doorstep.
But would the customers pay for the high delivery fees? According to Luc Andreani, Foodpanda Singapore managing director, that the idea would be to keep the delivery fees stable for the customers.
This project is still under further test by the company. They have their first test on using drones for food deliveries in Singapore in 2015. Some other companies such as Uber and KFC are also experimenting on using the devices for delivery.
