Microsoft ‘Kills’ Internet Explorer by August 2021

Those who were born in the 1980s and the 1990s surely have the experience of using Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is a web browser developed by Microsoft and it has been operating since 1995. In 2003, it was the most-used web browser globally.

Since it was first released, Microsoft had been upgrading and updating the browser. Until 2013, Microsoft came out with Internet Explorer 11 which serves the user with a better and advanced mechanism.

However, there are a lot of new web browsers such as Google Chrome and Firefox that enabled better online experiences to the users. With many alternatives available, Internet Explorer has been criticized for being unreliable.

This is why Microsoft is deciding to stop supporting the Internet Explorer by August 2021. This announcement was made on the Microsoft 365 website.

According to Microsoft 365, Microsoft will stop supporting the web browser gradually as it will be difficult for some users. Users will have a degraded experience and will not be able to use Microsoft 365 apps and services on Internet Explorer 11. New Microsoft 365 features will be unavailable or certain features may cease when accessing it through Internet Explorer 11.

They are hoping that Microsoft 365 will help the customers and provide a better internet experience by using the new Microsoft Edge. Microsoft is replacing the Internet Explorer with Microsoft Edge which is more similar to Google Chrome.

Internet Explorer is one of the most used web browsers once ago and has served its best for 25 years. But as many alternatives are available, it starts to lose its dominance. Internet Explorer will remain as our childhood memories after this.
