Thunderstorm Warning In 9 States Until This Evening – Met Malaysia

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (Met Malaysia) recently issued a warning of thunderstorms or heavy rains in some areas in Malaysia which is expected to occur until 6 pm this evening.

A warning was issued at 3.20 pm this evening by several states in Malaysia. Among the states that are expected to be hit by thunderstorms or heavy rain until 5 pm are Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.

Below are some areas that will be hit by thunderstorms until 6 pm this evening:

  • Perlis
  • Kedah
  • Penang: (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan)
  • Perak: (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak)
  • Pahang: (Cameron Highlands and Lipis )
  • Negeri Sembilan: (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin)
  • Johor: (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai and Kota Tinggi)
  • Sarawak: Kuching, Serian, Samarahan (Samarahan and Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah, Kapit (Belaga), Bintulu, Miri (Subis) and Limbang
  • Sabah: Inland (Sipitang, Tenom and Beaufort), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Tawau (Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Tongod, Kinabatangan and Sandakan) and Kudat

People returning from work this afternoon are asked to be careful especially for areas where thunderstorms are expected.
