COVID-19 Passed 30 Million Cases, Killed Nearly A Million Worldwide

2020 is certainly a hard year for all of us. When the first was recorded in Wuhan, China in November 2019, we didn’t pay much attention and assuming that it is just another disease that people can get infected.

In just a few months, the disease has been spread all over the world. It suddenly became a pandemic that has changed the world totally. After almost a year the virus emerged, many of us have adapted to the new way of life.

It is reported that the number of coronavirus cases is surpassing 30 million with a death toll of almost 1 million. India has the highest infection rate per day which holds 17 percent of the total number of cases.

According to WHO, the number of coronavirus cases globally now is five times more than the number of severe influenza illnesses recorded every year. The recorded cases exceeded the number of annual deaths linked to influenza.

India, the second-most populous country has become the second country with the highest cases after the U.S. The U.S. has about 20 percent of the total cases globally. Along with these two countries, Brazil, Argentina, and Spain also experiencing big spikes in the cases.

Scientists all around the world are in a race to develop vaccines that can be used to treat the virus. There are about 200 candidates that are taking part in developing the vaccine. Some countries have claimed that they have a vaccine that can be distributed by the end of this year.
