Francisca Luhong James, The New Miss Universe Malaysia 2020

Congratulations to the current champion of Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 and that is Francisca Luhong James. She is a 25 years old Kuching-born Dayak Native from Sarawak. She managed to beat 17 other finalists and made her way to become the champion and also to make her state proud.

She announced the Miss Universe Malaysia of 2020 after she has been judged by the one and only actor-director-producer Datuk Hans Isaac, Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 winner that is Deborah Henry and also fashion designer Carven Ong.

Francisca originally comes from the mixed roots of the Kayan-Kenyah-Iban lineage. Her own supportive father named James Bungan, is of the Oran Ulu descent originally from Ulu Sungai Asap while her loving mother named Pauline Japok, is an Iban originally from Kanowit.

She is definitely a strong advocate for the women empowerment movement. She is also very well known as the Public Relations & Marketing Executive as well as a part-time model. This particular newly crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 really believes that women can absolutely reach better heights when they support each other.

Women do not have to fight with each other because they bring their own creativity and worth to the world. Francisca Luhong James also possesses an active voice for the #StirringUpBorneo, undertaking the important charity work in the rural areas of Sarawak.

Francisca admits the winning the crown was such a surreal experience for her. She also said, “My advocacy is on women empowerment and I believe that women empowerment begins with yourself. I realized that when I fell and got back up, a lot of people lost their trust me in during my journey”.

She said that she really wanted to meet Oprah Winfrey and former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama if she won the Miss Universe Malaysia 2020.

She said the reason would be, “I want to know what is on their minds, how it feels like to talk to inspiring women. I’ve watched plenty of Oprah Winfrey’s shows. I even shed tears watching the Christmas kindness show”. She also added, “I want to make children smile and cry with joy too. To see them grow to be successful people and make their family smile, to see them going to school and get the education that they deserve”.
