Imported Squid Packaging In China Tested Positive For COVID-19 – China Health Office

China, authorities in northeastern Jilin province have found the coronavirus on the packaging of imported squid. Health authorities in the city of Fuyu urge people who may have bought it to get themselves attested to the virus.

Fuyu city’s health office said through its official WeChat account, one of the packages had arrived in the city via the provincial capital Changchun.

Health authorities asked people who had bought and eaten imported suid at the local Sanjia Deda frozen seafood wholesale shop from August 24 to August 31 to report to the nearest authorities that is available and seek a COVID-19 test as soon as possible.

The squid had been imported from Russia by a company in Hunchun city and then brought to the provincial capital, said the Changchun COVID-19 prevention office said.

Chinese customs said imports from companies will be suspended for a week if frozen food products tested positive for coronavirus and it can be for a month if a supplier’s products tested positive for a third time or more.

Mainland China has recently reported very few infections caused by the virus which emerged in Wuhan late last year. it said that only 10 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. It says most recent cases come from people who had entered China from elsewhere.

Traces of the virus had been found on cargoes of imported frozen food in August, said the local authorities two Chinese cities. No evidence of COVID-19 being spread by food or packaging said the World Health Organization (WHO).
