Indonesia, eight people had to dig graves of COVID-19 victims as a punishment for them. They had been punished by the authorities in the province of East Java, Indonesia for not wearing and refusing to wear facemasks.
Suyono, a local politician, said that he punished locals who did not abide by the country’s facemask law to dig graves at a local cemetery in Ngabetan Village. He said, “There are only three available gravediggers at the moment, so I thought I might as well put these people to work with them,”.
Two people have assigned by Sunoyo to each grave to assist the gravediggers. One person digs the grave while another lays wooden boards to support the corpse.
Indonesia instituted a national rule that requires facemask to be worn early in April. The policy was then strengthened in July after a spike in the number of cases in the country. A survey has been conducted which results in 70% of people did not wear facemasks.
It said the country has recorded over 222,000 cases and 8,841 deaths so far this year. Also, 3,141 new cases were reported on Monday 914 September) along with 118 deaths.
