LATEST: A New COVID-19 Cluster Detected At Medical Center In Kedah

Putrajaya, 7 September – Another new cluster identified as the ‘Kluster Sungai’ detected in Kedah. In the update of the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah just now, a total of two individuals have been confirmed positive in this cluster.

“MOH would like to inform that a new cluster has been identified at a medical center in Kedah. The index case (9455 cases) of this cluster is a health worker at the medical center.

“He has been suffering from symptoms since August 30, 2020, but has not received treatment. The COVID-19 screening test was conducted on 5 September 2020 and was found to be positive.

He added that the second case of the cluster (Case 9456) is a health worker at a medical center in Kedah. He is also a close contact to the index cases and shows symptoms since 5 September 2020.

The patient was treated at the same medical center where the COVID-19 screening test on 5 September 2020 was found to be positive.

“Both cases have been admitted to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar for isolation and treatment. Following that, active case detection (Active Case Detection) and close contact screening have been carried out, “he said.

A total of 57 people have been screened in this cluster so far where two people have been confirmed positive and another 55 are still awaiting results.
