Man Carves Out 3KM-Long Canal In 30 Years To Irrigate Parched Fields

People are born with kindness. We like to give and receive kindness. It is a part of human nature to sacrifice the energy, time, and money that we have if we think what we did can benefit our beloved people and others.

There was once a man, Dashrath Manjhi who carved a mountain that had caused the death of his wife. His actions lead a success when the road now is used by villagers after 22 years of hard work from him. There is nothing impossible when it comes to determination.

Interestingly, another man from Bihar, India repeats the same history of the “mountain man”. Laungi Bhuiyan took 30 years to carved out the 3km-long canal of nearby hills in his village.

Bhuiyan was determined to do this unbelievable act as he knows that it will benefit the villagers and their fields. He was bothered that the water from the rains flows into the river during the rainy season. He thought of carving out the canal to lead the water to the fields in his village.

He amazingly carved out the canal single-handedly. The villagers did not support his actions at first. He decided to stay at his village even though the villagers were moving out to cities to earn a living. He repeatedly went to dig out the canal for 30 years.

His village, Kothilawa in the Lahthua area of Gaya is surrounded by dense forests and mountains. A local said that what he did benefit not only himself but to the whole village as the village’s main means of livelihood is farming and animal husbandry.
