Based on the report released by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, it is informed that there is an addition of a new cluster, namely the Semenyih Immigration Detention Deposit Cluster (DTI) today, 4 September 2020.
SEMENYIH IMMIGRATION PROPERTY DEPOT CLUSTER 2
MOH would like to inform you that a new cluster has been identified at DTI Semenyih, Selangor. The case of this clustered index is a detainee who will be sent back to his country of origin. Thus, he was screened for Covid-19 at the Health Clinic and tested positive on 27 August 2020 (i.e. the 9302nd case).
The second and third cases of the cluster (i.e. the 9382 cases and the 9384 cases) are the immigration officers at the DTI who have accompanied the index case to the Health Clinic for Covid-19 screening.
They are two of the four immigration officers accompanying the Covid-19 positively tested index case. Subsequently, Active Case Detection and close contact screening were conducted. As of September 4, 2020, a total of 269 people have been screened. Of these:
Selangor (265 filtered):
Two cases detected positive Covid-19;
123 negative individuals; and
140 individuals are still awaiting a decision.
Negeri Sembilan (4 filtered):
One case detected positive COVID-19; and
Three individuals are still awaiting a decision.
The number of screenings that have been implemented for this cluster involves:
134 homes;
129 DTI staff; and
Six (6) family members of staff.
The cause of the infection is still under investigation. Measures to prevent and control infections such as disinfection and contamination processes have been carried out at DTI Semenyih.
MOH calls on frontline members from various agencies managing Covid-19 positive cases, suspected Covid-19 positive cases as well as cases still under investigation including Patient Under Investigation (PUI) to take preventive measures at all times throughout case management -here.
This includes the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the right and appropriate, the physical spacing (physical distancing) of at least 1 meter, and optimal hand hygiene practices.

The epidemic has highlighted the important role they play in preventing, controlling, and managing the spread of Covid-19.
