Strong Earthquake Hits Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia at 11.41 am today.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the epicentre of the earthquake was 330 kilometres north of Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, Russia at a depth of 348 kilometres.

The quake, however, did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
