Terrifying Traffic Safety Reminder In Japan To Prevent Road Accident

When driving on highways in Malaysia, we would always be aware of speed trap cameras that could track if we are driving beyond the speed limit.

There are a few safety reminders throughout the long highways. Interestingly, Japan is taking an advanced step in making sure of the safety of its road users.

Normal safety reminders would be “Drive safely,” or “Watch speed limit.” The authorities in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan however has a different idea of giving reminders to the road users.

A Twitter user, @red_baz uploaded a picture of the terrifying reminder, “Transportation from here to the nearest hospital takes two hours” was put up on National Route 239 in the city. It suggests the drivers drive carefully on the long, straight highways that if any accident happened, it will take two hours for you to arrive at the hospital.

The authorities are taking this measure to prevent road users from speeding at the highways. This highway is longer than any other highways in Japan. Thus, drivers tend to drive at higher speeds from the limit.

Reminders like this can be very helpful to prevent road accidents as they will make the drivers think carefully before speeding. Hokkaido is not the first place in Japan to have this kind of reminder. Last two years, Tokyo had put up a warning “If you are injured, it will take two hours for you to be transported to the hospital.”
