The refrigerator is a very useful tool to store food or drink so that it is durable. Almost everyone has a refrigerator in their home because of its very useful function.
However, did you all know that some foods are not suitable to be stored in the refrigerator?
Most of these foods are arguably not suitable for the cold temperatures in the refrigerator. These foods stay fresher at room temperature.
Here are five foods that are not suitable to put in the refrigerator:
1) Coffee
The moisture in your fridge causes the coffee beans to deteriorate, which means you don’t get the fresh taste you want from your morning drink. Furthermore, the temperature fluctuates each time you open your refrigerator door, creating condensation, which in turn makes more moisture. Instead, store coffee beans in an airtight container in the pantry.
2) Honey
Did you know that this sticky and sweet food is not suitable to be put in the refrigerator? Honey is known to seize up and crystallize in cold temperatures. Room temperature is the ideal temperature level to keep this natural sweetener in good condition.
3) Bread
While storing bread in the refrigerator keeps the bread away from the mold, the refrigerator can also cause the bread to dry. Instead, store the bread in the freezer and bring it to room temperature when you are ready to eat it.
4) Hot Sauce
Hot sauce does not need to be put in the refrigerator to last longer. This is because the vinegar and preservatives present in the hot sauce help to ensure that it is always in good condition.
5) Eggplant
Foods such as eggplant can lose flavor if placed in the refrigerator. However, you should also remember that eggplant also can not last long if placed outside the refrigerator. Preferably, this eggplant should be cooked and eaten as soon as possible.
