First Edition Of Harry Potter’s Book Sold For More Than RM300,000

For Harry Potter’s lovers, owning the printed book version of all the series would be such a pleasure because it could be read over and over again. The printed book version comes in various different themes according to the year it got produced and also by which company it got produced. That is why the first edition of Harry Potter’s printed book version would totally be the holy grail for Harry Potter’s book that people want to own for their personal collection.

This particular and rare first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone book is originally valued at the price of RM160,892. This book is one out of the total 500 hardback first editions that got printed and it was sold by one of the retires British expat specifically from Luxembourg.

Auction for the book took place at the hammer at Hansons’ Staffordshire Library Auction on Tuesday. The anonymous vendor stated that he bought the precious book for his children about 18 months after it was first officially published in the month of June 1997. He feels absolutely delighted with the sale because many people interested.

The vendor said, “The Harry Potter books are truly iconic – in the very top tier of literature for children – and this first edition can only increase in value in the future”. He also added that the money that he got from the auction will be used to pay off his daughter’s student loans.

The book got to be identified as the original first edition of printed Harry Potter’s book by looking at some of these clues. The book was posted to the Derbyshire auctioneers in a tea towel, it also has a duplication of the phrase ‘1 wand’ on page 53 and also an issue number of “10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1” that shows the originality of the book. Hansons’ said the final bid came from a private international buyer who was bidding by using the phone.

Mr. Spencer, the person who is responsible to deal with the sale of this first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone book stated that it was the highest price paid at the auctioneers for a single copy.
