KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — The Malaysian community living in the United States had been keeping in constant touch with one another through social media as a precaution in facing the COVID-19 pandemic there.
A Malaysian citizen residing in New York who only wanted to be known as Boon Hoe, 36, said they would share accurate information on what is happening in the field as well as news released by the authorities.
He said although no Movement Control Order had been imposed as in Malaysia, many in the country do not leave their homes for fear of getting infected with COVID-19.
Boon Hoe, who works as a product and innovation manager and has lived in the US for 18 years, also shared that, despite the high number of COVID-19 cases in the country, the figure differs from state to state depending on which political party has control of the state.
He said states which were in favor of a certain party would establish SOPs such as physical distancing and wearing of face masks during the presidential election campaign period.
Based on a Google search update on COVID-19 statistics, the US has recorded a death toll of over 200,000, and more than eight million people have been detected to be infected.
