People are believed to have used buckets of water on the animal to ensure it remains hydrated.

Sergeant José Muñoz of the Chilean Navy told local media that he was very grateful to the local community for their good support.

“I want to thank the community for the great support. We are going to be making constant patrols so that no more get back into town and any accident occurs,” he said.
