Cooking Oil Change Colors? These 5 Signs Tell You When To Throw Away Your Frying Oil

We all know that cooking oil is one of the main ingredients in every dish that uses it. In addition to cooking oil sourced from palm fruit, there are also cooking oils from other sources such as corn, olives, and various other types of cooking oil from different sources.

However, did you know that cooking oil needs to be changed to a new one? Cooking oil that is used repeatedly is definitely one of the unhealthy actions to practice.

Through a sharing on Twitter by the Food Safety and Quality Division of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), there are six signs that prove that your cooking oil should be replaced.

Here are the signs that show when you must change your cooking oil:

  1. The color of cooking oil becomes deep brown.
  2. Cooking oil becomes more viscous and concentrated.
  3. Cooking oil smells rancid.
  4. A lot of smoke is produced when the oil is heated.
  5. The color of the fried food becomes too brown and unattractive.
  6. The taste of fried food becomes unpleasant due to food waste in cooking oil.
