Mark William Callaway or better known as ‘The Undertaker’ recently announced his retirement after making an appearance in his last major event, the WWE Survivor Series 2020.
The 55-year-old wrestler is one of the most respected legendary wrestlers in the world of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as well as one of the world’s most famous wrestling athletes, throughout his 30 years of career.
Throughout his career, there is no doubt that there are various best matches that he has been involved in against famous wrestlers that many will not forget.
Among the wrestlers, he has faced are Mankind, Kane, Triple H, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Batista, and Edge. The list never stopped until his last match against AJ Styles at WWE Wrestlemania 36 on March.
In honor of his retirement, let’s take a look back at The Undertaker’s top five matches throughout his 30 years of a wrestling career.
5) The Undertaker vs The Rock vs Kurt Angle – WWE Vengeance 2002
This ‘triple threat’ match is for the World Title where The Undertaker, The Rock, and Kurt Angle face each other. Not only that, these three wrestlers at that time were at the peak of their careers. The thrilling finish to this match remained iconic and it ended with The Rock winning the match.
4) The Undertaker vs Mankind – King of the Ring 1998
This match can also be said to be one of the most memorable matches in the history of professional wrestling. Arguably the most shocking wrestling match, yet iconic in the last 30 years. In this match, Mick Foley (Mankind) took a savage and another level of punishment.
Foley had been thrown from the top of the cage through the announcement table and accidentally was put through the cage into the ring.
3) The Undertaker vs Edge – WrestleMania 24
This match played an important role as one of the best rivals in the history of the WWE franchise. At the time, the two men entered the match unbeaten at WrestleMania, with 15-0 for The Undertaker and 7-0 for Edge respectively. The match ended with The Undertaker as the winner and remained undefeated at Wrestlemania.
2) The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania 25
One of the best matches in the history of Wrestlemania. The match features two legendary wrestling icons, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Both showed excellent performances in this match even as they got older.
Undertaker and Shawn Michaels had an unexpected match. Seen by many wrestling fans as his best match. In fact, this match helped strengthen the legacy of these two men.
1) The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels – In Your House 18: Bad Blood
The first-ever Hell in a Cell match was held and it featured two wrestlers at the top of their careers. This match was a huge success and this type of match finally became important for the WWE franchise.
At the time, this was the most violent match in WWE history, a very immersive twenty-minute match. This match also became the debut of The Undertaker’s ‘brother’ Kane and caused The Undertaker’s defeat in this match.
