KPLB Sabah Reviewing Need To Increase JPKKs, Village Heads – Jahid Jahim

TENOM, Nov 11 — The Sabah Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) is reviewing the need to increase the number of Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK) as well as village heads throughout the state, says its Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim.

He said the move was to ensure that all infrastructure and socio-economic development programs planned by the government could be implemented well, apart from being able to meet the needs and solve the problems of the people at the grassroots level.

Jahid said the study was also necessary as many new villages had come up since the last time the survey was conducted in the early 80s.

“The number of villages has increased. Houses and the number of people have also increased,” he told reporters after officiating the Kampung Sejahtera program in Kampung Mantimug here today.

Jahid said the number of new JPKKs or village heads that were required had also been sent to KPLB at the Federal level.

“We will follow up based on the number that has been approved,” he said, adding that his ministry would ensure the COVID-19 pandemic in rural Sabah was tackled in a systematic and holistic manner.
