Twitter Introduces “Fleets” Allow Users To Send Disappearing Tweets

Twitter has recently announced that they would come up with a brand new feature that is “Fleets” on the 17th of November 2020. This particular feature has the same function as the disappearing feature on Snapchat and also Instagram Stories because “Fleets” will disappear after 24 hours. According to the statement posted, this update of “Fleets” will eventually reach all users across the whole wide world.

In addition, Twitter users also can use the feature “Fleets” to make reactions to other tweets, photos, and also videos. Other than that, users also can unleash their creative side because they can customize them with many cool backgrounds and also other effects. For a reminder, “Fleets” do not get retweets, likes, or even public replies. Also, other users can only reply to your “Fleets” over direct messaging.

According to Twitter, the reason for this new feature is to help reduce the pressure of expressing personal thoughts and lessen concerns of receiving public feedback. Kayvon Beykpour who is the Twitter Product Lead said, “Fleets aims to address some of the anxieties that hold people back from talking on Twitter”.

He also added, “Those new to Twitter found Fleets to be an easier way to share what’s on their mind. Because they disappear from view after a day, Fleets helped people feel more comfortable sharing personal and casual thoughts, opinions, and feelings”.
