(Video) Coca-Cola Revealed First Paper Bottle Prototype In Effort To Reduce Waste

There have been so many companies nowadays that are trying to play their part in helping to save the environment. Currently, the Coca-Cola company has introduced its first and own version of the paper bottle prototype. They come up with this idea as their effort to reduce waste produced. They are making this innovation at a lab in Brussels, Belgium.

This particular new concept produced by them is part of Coca-Cola’s World Without Waste initiative. Based on their website, Coca-Cola Company aims to collect and also recycle a bottle or can for every one it sells by the year 2030. It is also looking to substantially reduce the use of virgin packaging materials and also aims to use only packaging materials that are fully recyclable other than biodegradable.

As for now, there is still no absolute date that has been revealed for the launch of this brand new Coca-Cola paper bottle but worries no more because a first-generation prototype has already been developed. To create this particular prototype, the Coca-Cola Company has collaborated with the Paboco initiative.

Coca-Cola’s prototype of a paper bottle uses a plastic liner that is made from 100 percent recycled plastic. This liner functions to hold the liquid inside the paper bottle. However, the company is still looking for a solution that does not need the plastic liner inside the paper bottle.

Packaging Innovation Manager at Coca-Cola Company that is Stijn Franssen said, “Our vision is to create a paper bottle that can be recycled like any other type of paper, and this prototype is the first step on the way to achieving this”. He also added, “A paper bottle opens up a whole new world of packaging possibilities, and we are convinced that paper packaging has a role to play in the future”.
